Those of you who upgraded their vehicles with 3/4 or 1 ton axles - if you had to do it again, would you stick with 8 lug or go down to 5-6 lugs? Reason I ask - I spend good money on my 15x10 5 on 5.5 lug wheels and tires. After I did my 1 ton axle swap, I was told it was cheaper to stick with 8 lugs. My front was converted from 8 lug to 5 lug and then back to 8 lug (that's for a different story). I sold my tires and wheels for much less than what I bought them for, and had to buy new wheels and tires at 'regular price'. In the end, I thought it would have been cheaper to convert to 5 lug than 8 lug, keeping my tires and wheels. I've been looking at pictures of those V-8 Powered rock crawler buggies, it seems that most of these guys are running 5 or 6 lug, not 8 lug on their 'pro 60 or so' axles. Is there a reason for that? Maybe it *is* cheaper to convert to 8 lug if you didn't have any wheels and tires to begin with?

- While I was trying to get the lug nuts off, I accidentally was tightening them. I tighten these down like a motherfucker before I realize my mistake. I was using a 24 inch breaker and was dropping all my weight on it. I was able to get 4/5 of them out, but one completely broke.
